Vox Pathfinder 15r Guitar Center

Hi,
I was told recently that the VOX pathfinder 15r was a small solid state amp that had a great clean tone (at low volumes) and there is a mod you can do to remove 2 LEDs from the circuit to improve headroom and clean tone. I actually had one 10 years ago and thought it was great but didn't try it for jazz. Just a few pop and RNB gigs. I am not of the belief that you need an amp with a lot of watts or headroom for a decent jazz tone. I usually mic my amp at gigs and very rarely am I in a situation where I cannot mic the amp or use a line out. I use a Princeton reverb most of the time and I bring my own microphone to mic it.
Just looking for something really small and light for those really small gigs or practicing in my living room.
They are no longer making the 15R but have seem them still available here in Taiwan.
Anybody had experience with these amps and the mod that I am talking about?
